May 2018
May 5: Marine Radio Operations
This two hour, hands-on class teaches all the functions found on a standard marine radio and the vocabulary needed to confidently operate it.
Ages: 16 – Adult

May 12: Play Pen Anchoring
In this four hour class on-the-water, learn the skills needed to confidently navigate and anchor in a heavy populated moorage. Take the helm of a CYA yacht, learning firsthand how to anchor a boat with extreme precision.

May 12: Locks & Passage Making
Putting students at the helm, this four hour, on-the-water class teaches students how to safely pass through the Chicago locks and navigate the Chicago River among commercial traffic, bridge operations, and other recreational boats.

June 2 – 3: Safe Powerboat Handling
Learn how to safely operate a powerboat and improve your boat handling skills on actual boats. This is a 14-hour hands-on, on-the-water course where students will gain the required education for standard boat handling.

June 9 – 10: Basic Powerboat Cruising
Learn how to safely operate a powerboat larger than 30-feet and improve your boat handling skills. This 14-hour course includes both on-the-water sessions and classroom sessions.
