In 2015, Chicago Yacht Works created Chicago Yacht Academy “CYA” and hired Captain Scott Souders as Director and lead instructor. CYA became not only the sole power boating educational offering in the Chicago Area but soon became one of only four US Powerboating accredited facilities in the United States. 

Offering both the US Powerboating curriculum and the Internal Yacht Certification instruction, we have graduates from numerous states and countries now safely boating on their own. Captain Scott was an integral part of Chicago Yacht Works, offering not only class and private instruction but also deliveries and complete orientation for new Formula buyers. 

In 2022, Scott added to his accomplishments and became a Certified Marine Surveyor and decided to ‘hang his own shingle’ by creating Center Helm Yacht Consultants.

Chicago Yacht Works and CYA are proud to continue working closely with Captain Scott as he continues in the role of lead instructor for all CYA classes, using CYA vessels and equipment. We will continue to offer his services and people can also work directly with Scott on a consulting basis or for Marine Surveys.  We are all looking forward to a great 2023!
