In terms of being on the water through the pandemic, boating life was able to power through, allowing us to enjoy some version of normalcy – even if we did miss out on some key summer events. We may have missed the fireworks and various water shows but, we’re happy to say that summer is back on this year!
Only, with a few quirks. Here are the details:
Navy Pier – Fireworks
Yes, plan on fireworks at Navy Pier, but maybe not on Fourth of July weekend?! Navy Pier has opened back up with some changes. You can view their notable fireworks display every Wednesday and Saturday night between now and Labor Day weekend. However, as of right now, they will not be hosting fireworks on July 3rd or 4th.
We’re keeping our fingers crossed that will change, but for now, here is the current schedule.
Air and Water Show – Kinda Sorta Happening
We still recommend getting your spot on the lakefront on August 21 and 22, but maybe not all day this time. The full experience of the Air and Water Show that you are used to will be scaled back to just the U.S. Navy Blue Angels performance from 12-1:00pm each day. The city remains to be extra cautious as it fully reopens, but we’re happy to get back the events we can, in any way shape or form.
Again, we’re hoping that could change, so stay updated here and we’ll be sure to keep you posted on the latest as well.
Lake and River Boat Tours
No catch here! These started up again in April and have been moving full speed ahead. This is a great way to see the city whether you’re a local or visiting the area. There are plenty of different options to choose from depending on what your speed is – from relaxing dinner cruises to speed boat tours.
There are also plenty of free events to choose from this summer that go on right at Navy Pier. As always, stay up to speed with Navy Pier’s COVID-19 requirements.
Remember! Contact our service team for Dockside Service if you run into any trouble on the water. You can also text us during business hours at 312.728.7401. We’re here to help! Enjoy the water this summer. We’ll see you out there.
